Montevertine

Montevertine is located in the heart of the Chianti hills, at 425 meters above sea level in the valley where the Pesa river originates, in the municipality of Radda in Chianti.

The property was purchased in 1967 by Sergio Manetti, at that time an industrialist in Poggibonsi, with the intention of developing a winery. The construction of the cellars and the planting of the first vineyards dates back to the years between 1968 and 1974.

Over the following years, with the marketing of the first vintages of Chianti Classico, the first recognitions arrived for our wines, which pushed Sergio Manetti to invest in the company, starting a path of development of the vineyards and expansion of the cellars which would continue until his death, which occurred in November 2000. At that time Montevertine had 12 hectares of vineyards. The leadership of the company passes to his son Martino, already working in the cellar since 1990. Under his direction the development continues to the present day, until it reaches the current size of 18 hectares of specialized vineyard.

Despite its growth, Montevertine has remained a family-run company, aimed at producing wines that identify as much as possible with the traditions of the Radda in Chianti area.
